I'm lucky. I'll say that right here and now. But, don't let me get ahead of myself. :)
As my job, I get to take beautiful photos of people. I love most when I get to develop an idea with them from beginning to end.
Now, when I say beautiful, I mean the entire person, inside and out. When things are done right, all of the versatility, capability, energy and life a person has on the inside comes through, and that's magic. And so it was with Georgina Reilly.
Georgina hired me to photograph her differently than she'd previously been photographed. She'd had some ideas brewing and wanted to convert these ideas into photographs. Moving to America after having a successful career in Canadian television, she wanted to have editorial style photographs that conveyed all that she had to give to her art. The funny thing is, while the final shots may be different than what she'd previously shot, they're not all that different from who Georgina really is. The shoot was actually her. What we ended up doing was allowing the aforementioned versatility, capability, energy and life come through. How, you ask? Well that's what I do.
I'll make you a wager: if you don't like how you look in photos, you probably aren't as comfortable as you could be. Simple, right? Easier to say something about it than do something about it? That's why I work with my clients (from beginning to end) to make them comfortable. It's sort of like being uncomfortable is a mask. Take that mask off and what do you have?
That's right, boys and girls. What you have left is you.
Now, before, I said I was lucky. Here's why: I get to see the shots between the shots. With Georgina injecting herself into the shots that we had planned, I got to see the shades of grey as she moved from one to the next, in addition to the beautiful finished shots, with everything she's got shining through in all. And the amazing thing is that if you do it right, everything you shoot is just about as close as you can get to the actual person as you can in a photograph.
And now, on with the show:
I loved this shoot. I'm sure it shows. :)
Thank you for taking the time to look over this shoot. And if you've decided you would like to see what you look like in front of a camera when you're totally comfortable, take the plunge and click Booking at the top of this page. I'm sure we'll have a blast.
Best,
Jamie
